I've just finished a graduate development programme - a two year rotational period, and now have been positioned back to my home department in AIT as a Software Engineer.

On the rotation scheme I did a 6 month stint in the Systems Engineering department and loved it. So I'm wondering - should I push to make the switch from software to systems now, or will it not harm anything if I gain a bit of experience as a Software Engineer first (a year or two) and then attempt to switch?
